Lukou International Airport of Nanjing covers both domestic and international destinations counting with 85 routes. It is situated 35 kilometers to the southeast of the city center.
Airport transport: The buses leave from the Airport Arriving Building to Zhonghuamen Station located at No. 88, Jihecun Lu, crossing the principal streets. Tel: 025 – 52480482.
There are also buses to the neighboring cities like to Changzhou, Wuhu, Huaian, Yixing and Maanshan.
Nanjing is a train transport core of the east region of the country because it links - through the Yangtze River Bridge- the national Jinghu Railway (Beijing-Shanghai) and Ningtong Railway (Nanjing -Tongchuan).
There are several trips to Shanghai every day (2 1/2 hours) due to air transportation is not available. There are also direct departures to Suzhou (1 1/2 hours), Hangzhou (2 hours), Beijing, Shenyang, Xian, etc.
Train Stations: The principal passenger station is The Nanjing Train Station, situated in the northeast of the city close to the Xuanwu Lake. There exist other three minor train station which are West, South and North stations.
Nanjing counts with a modern highway system of six expressways linking nearby cities like Shanghai, Hangzhou or Hefei. These highways include Hu-Ning, Ning-He and Ning-Hang routes.
For long distance trips, there is a well-implemented system of buses travelling to the southeast provinces of the country.
Nanking is located on the banks of the Yantze River and has the biggest inland port of China with a length of 98 kilometers.
Cruise ships and boats transport passengers to Yangzhou, Zhenjiang and Nantong; downstream to Shanghai and Wuhan; and upstream to Wuhu, Jiujiang, Anqing and Chongqing.

There is an efficient transporting system in Nanjing. The city has a metro crossing from the northern districts to the south zone. Another line going East-West is being constructed.
There are also a system of buses covering more than 170 routes; taxis and bicycle sections.
