Yangshuo Travel Guide

Rock climbing in Yangshuo

It was first put on the map by American; by climber Todd Skinner who visited in 1992 establishing many classic lines such as "Moonwalker" which traverses the famous Moon Hill arch.

There are approx 200 routes documented in the current edition of the Paul Collis Yangshuo climbing guidebook, a number that increases daily. Many of these routes have been established by visiting foreign climbers or people residing close by.

While most routes are single-pitch bolted sport climbing routes. Nowadays there are multi-pitch sport routes are beginning to appear as climbers venture above the first hanger.

There are several places to climb around the Yangshuo region, with most easily accesible either by public bus, hiring a bycicle or taxi-van. The most famous of these crags is Moon Hill with many 5.13 graded lines.

The first climbed by American Todd Skinner in 1992. Other crags of note include Baby Frog, Wine Bottle cliff, Low Mountain, Bamboo Grove and Twin Gates.
