The city of ShanghaiIt's the largest town of the People's Republic of China and the 7th largest in the world. Covering an area of 7,037.50 kmē (2,717.2 square miles), Shanghai has a population of 18.8 million, including two million floating population. Nowadays, is watched as the citadel of modern economy of China, the town also serves as one important culture of the nation, financial, communications centers, commercial and industrial. Originally, The city of Shanghai was a seaside fishing village, Shanghai became China's most important town by the 20th century, and in time its gradual development led to it being given County status on 19 August of 1291 during the Yuan Dynasty.
Formerly, it was known as "the Oriental Paris", the city of Shanghai is a paradise of a Shopper. Attractions for tourists is around Nanjing Road. Huaihai Road intrigues those with fashionable tastes and modern, while Sichuan North Road meets the demands of ordinary folk.
