DOCUMENTATION
  1. Visa/Work Visa
  2. Foreign Expert Certificate
  3. Identity Card
  4. Residence Card/Permit
  5. Original Passport and Authorization Letter
  6. Residency Registration (to obtain Green Card)
  7. Application for Customs Sealed Letter (three copies)
  8. Letter of Employment Certification (preferably in Chinese) from employer's registered China Office, or Chinese host organization, certifying that SHIPPER will be either personnel of Foreign Resident Office, or Foreign Expert
  9. Detailed inventory in English (describing general carton contents - PBO "packed by owner" and "misc." not acceptable)
  10. Arrival Customs Declaration (to be completed by SHIPPER on arrival at port of entry)
  11. Application for import of personal effects (Import Permit)
  12. List of goods and quantity to be imported must be in Chinese
  13. Must list all items planned for import within six months from the date of approval of the application, even if not contained in the first shipment
  14. Certificate of Origin may be required
  15. Customs Permit (must be approved prior to arrival of goods)
  16. Customs Permit and inventory must MATCH EXACTLY!!
  17. Health Certificate
  18. Full physical examination with blood test to prove evidence of absence of communicable diseases, especially AIDS.

CUSTOMS REGULATIONS
  1. Shipper must arrive in china before shipment, in order to complete import formalities
  2. Personal registration of owner of the goods and employer's registration must be approved before arrival of the shipment
  3. Used household goods and personal effects are dutiable for Chinese persons holding a foreign passport and foreigners entering China for an extended period of time (not holding a Residence Card)
  4. Only one air and one sea shipment may be imported within six months of shipper
  5. Shipments are subject to physical inspection by Customs

DUTIABLE / RESTRICTED ITEMS
  1. Alcohol and tobacco products
  2. Foodstuff
  3. Office supplies and furniture must be for personal use
  4. Office equipment can not be imported as personal effects and are dutiable (i.e. copiers and fax machines)
  5. Electrical/electronic items (new or used) are subject to import duties (including computers) make, model, and serial number must be on inventory
  6. One of each electrical/electronic item per SHIPPER may be imported such as TV's, stereos, refrigerators, VCR's, washer/dryer
  7. Audio cassette tapes, video cassette tapes, compact discs, etc. (limited importation applies) will be inspected by Customs Office
  8. Cordless or portable phones (Import Permit required)
  9. Radio transmitters and components
  10. Bicycles
  11. Oriental antiques and objects d'art must be declared in detail, otherwise re-export might be prohibited
  12. Textiles and fabrics of wool, silk and artificial and synthetic fibers and bedding
  13. Cosmetics
  14. Cameras, watches, clocks and their parts and accessories
  15. Small quantity of prescription medicines may be allowed (with a copy of the prescription)
  16. Computers/printers - only one of each item allowed per shipper
  17. Dutiable/restricted items must be clearly indicated on the inventory and loaded last for easy access

PROHIBITED ITEMS
  1. Weapons and ammunition
  2. Drugs or poisons
  3. Fresh food, especially meat
  4. Pornographic and subversive literature, films, tapes, etc.
  5. Endangered and rare animals and their products
