By bus:The main long-distance bus station is situated across the square from main train station.
The majority of towns in Heilongjiang can be reached via bus.
Beijing: takes about 13 hours
Changchun: takes about 4 hours
Dalian: takes about 10 hrs
Jilin: takes about 6 hours
Mudanjiang: takes about 4 hours
Qiqihar: takes about 5 hours
Shenyang: takes about 8 hours
Yanji: takes about 9 hrs
Wudailanchi: takes about 6 hours
By car: The city of Harbin is connected to the rest of China via the China Highway 102 via Changchun. Also, the city of Harbin is connected via road to Inner Mongolia, Jilin, and Russia.
By plane: Harbin Airport has services to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Xian, Dalian, Jinan, Qingdao, Chaoyang, Xiamen, Chongqing, Changsha, Ürümqi, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Chengdu, Shenyang, Haikou, Hangzhou, Kunming, Fuzhou, Jiamusi, Ningbo, Shenzhen, Wenzhou, Wuhan, Tianjin, Yantai, and Zhengzhou.
Harbin Airport has also international services to Khabarovsk and Vladivostok, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Niigata, Seoul and Los Angeles (USA).
The airport is not situated in the town center and is about a 45 minute drive outside of the town in the middle of soybean fields.
By train: Taking a train to Harbin is very easy and nowadays most are overnight trains, including a new rapid service from Beijing.
There are many hotels right around the square in front of the station & most are fairly cheap. Also, there are a KFC & a Russian restaurant called Breznev that has decent food.
