Getting there from Australia and New Zealand
Hong Kong is the entry point into China from Australia and New Zealand.
However, it is also possible to fly direct to Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing without having to change planes and to elsewhere in China if you don't worry about making a stopover.
There are not many options to travel from Oceania to China. Sydney is served by China Eastern and Air China to fly to Beijing and Shanghai, and by Air China and China Southern to fly to Guangzhou.
Qantas (www.qantas.com.au) and Air New Zealand (www.airnewzealand.com) fly to Hong Kong, and there are some indirect routes with Philippine Airlines (www.pal.com.ph) via Manila, and with Garuda Indonesia (www.garuda-indonesia.com) via Jakarta.
Cathay Pacific (www.cathaypacific.com) flies directly to Hong Kong from six Australian cities and Auckland.
