Opening Hours

Usual Chinese opening hours are from 8am to 11.30pm and from 1.30pm to 5.00pm between Monday and Friday, but this is not a general rule and can vary depending on the place that you want to go. In general this work schedule is applicable for offices, airlines, travel services and similar business. On Saturday commercial places used to work just half day, while Sunday is a day of rest, like in the Western countries.

Some particular cases are: post and telecommunications offices which open every day, usually until late hours; shops also open daily keeping late at night principally in large cities, and banks normally work only from Monday to Saturday.

Tourist attractions like parks, pagodas and temples open daily, generally 8am-5pm and without a lunch break. Most public parks open from around 6am to 10pm. Museums have more restricted opening hours, including lunch breaks and one closing day a week, frequently on Tuesday or Monday.

Sometimes, under especial circumstances, you can access to closed places, but you have to convince the doorkeeper or the business owner.

Admission charges
